Why Do The Wicked Seem Blessed?

To worldly people it seems like wicked people prevail, live long lives, enjoy luxuries and never really fall into judgement for their sins. For unbelievers it seems foolish that people believe in what they think is an unfair God that allows “only the good to die young”.

“Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?” Job 21:7

A great example is Hugh Hefner who was a wicked man that lived for 91 years. He was the founder of a pornography empire called Playboy. He spent his life surrounded by gold-digging whores in the Playboy Mansion. He was filthy rich, a whoremonger, adulterer, fornicator, homo perversion supporter, outspoken supporter of sodomite marriage and only God knows what else. His product that made him rich, Playboy, was responsible for millions of people falling into sin and addiction to pornography. Many men could never become husbands because they became such porn addicted losers. Also many women’s lives were ruined by Playboy. To the worldly person, Hugh Hefner would have had the ideal life – beautiful women, constant fornication, a mansion, notoriety, worldly success, living to old age. But Hugh Hefner hated God, although God still offered him salvation through His Son Jesus Christ until the moment the old pervert died.

“The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” Psalms 5:5

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36

God gave Hugh Hefner 91 years to live and 91 years to get saved. Hugh instead spent 91 years as a filth peddler. God instructs us to use our time wisely:

“15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16

People like Hugh Hefner get trapped in their own webs of sin. They get so much worldly success that they do not believe they even need God and are happy living their lives full of sin.

“13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. 14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. 15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?” Job 21:13-15

Just because the world sees someone like Hugh Hefner as successful does not mean it will end well. Why do the wicked prevail?, so many ask this question. Why does it seem like they have long luxurious lives despite the fact that they earned it with sin? The Bible answers this question again in the Book of Job:

“That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.” Job 21:30

Hugh Hefner’s life of luxury and sin on Earth is now over. He used to quote “what happens in the grotto stays in the grotto” referring to a cave in his swimming pool where orgies used to take place. God knows what happened in the grotto. It is unfortunately very unlikely that Hugh Hefner ever humbled himself, cried out to Jesus, repented of his sins and got born again. If that is the case then Hugh Hefner is burning in Hell with many porn addicts who he helped create like the true child of the devil he was on Earth. So do the wicked really prevail? The answer is no, regardless of what it may look like from a worldly perspective.
