There Is No Hope In The Pope
I was a member and follower of the Pope for 30 years until I read the Bible and saw the words of the Pope do not match the word of God and was saved by the grace of Jesus out of the Catholic Church. Many people worldwide follow the pope. The catholic church teaches that the pope who is their leader and “Vicar of Christ” is infallible, meaning can not make a mistake when teaching on faith and morals. EWTN states on their website: “When the Pope (1) intends to teach (2) by virtue of his supreme authority (3) on a matter of faith and morals (4) to the whole Church, he is preserved by the Holy Spirit from error. His teaching act is therefore called “infallible” and the teaching which he articulates is termed “irreformable”. (https://www.ewtn.com)
This is quite a claim and it is important that we check just a couple statements made by the popes throughout history to see if they line up with God’s Word.
Pope Boniface VIII said this: “Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff (pope)” (Umam Sanctam Letter to Catholic Church, 1302.)
Jesus tells us in the Bible that He is the only means necessary for salvation: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
Pope Pius V said this: “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218) Pope John Paul II said: “Don’t go to God for forgiveness of sins: come to me.” (December 12, 1984 – LA Times)
The Word of God says: “3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
” If we confess our sins, he (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Pope John Paul II said concerning the unBiblical Catholic version of Mary: “In fact, by being assumed into heaven she has not laid aside the office of salvation but by the manifold intercession she continues to obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation.” (Dives in Misericordia, 1980)
The Bible says differently: “5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6
The current Pope Francis said: “There are those who believe they can maintain a personal, direct and immediate relationship with Jesus Christ outside the communion and the mediation of the Church. These are dangerous and harmful temptations.” (St. Peter’s Square, June 25, 2014)
Jesus taught us differently than what the pope teaches: “5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
This just scratches the surface, there are many other blasphemies and false teachings that the popes have made throughout history. And there are some sayings of the popes have been Biblical as well. Clearly many statements that are supposedly “infallible” from the popes do not line up with the perfect Word of God. There can only be one perfect source and one Truth, is it the Word of God or words of men like the pope. Will you follow Jesus to Heaven or the pope to Hell? The choice is yours.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15
