The War Has Just Started
As soon as someone receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior and becomes born again it is considered an act of war on the kingdom of darkness. The devil will start attacking like never before in unimaginable ways. It will make life before being a Christian seem more calm although it was full of sin.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11
The devil doesn’t need to attack people in the bar room, at the strip club, on the internet porn sites, in the casino, he has them right where he wants them and he can even make them feel good, he does not want anyone feeling bad doing these things and certainly wouldn’t want to see anyone feel any kind of conviction. The devil is after people who are avoiding sin and serving God. He will look for any way in. Some people will say that they do not struggle anymore and overcome everything and boast about how holy they are and everything they do for God and without even knowing the devil has got them with their own pride. The devil is great at what he does.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8
God forgives us of our past sins by the Blood of Jesus and the Bible says He chooses not to even remember them, but the devil does remember them.
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12
The devil remembers what each and every Christian was into when they were living in sin and all of their past sins that have been forgiven. Did you love alcohol? Well the devil will make sure that there are some of his demon possessed children to bring alcohol around you, even the very brand that you loved that you can almost taste it. Did you have a vice for women? Well guaranteed there is an immodest whore coming your way, with fresh perfume on that the devil will use to cause lust or even worse. Did you like pornography? You will have some pop-ups on your computer reminding you of your old sin trying to get you to take a quick peak on an adult site. The devil is relentless, and this is why we can not be in the flesh because that is where he can and will win.
“5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:5-7
You will be tempted, Jesus Himself was tempted and His temptation came after 40 days of fasting when His flesh would have been weakest, but He was able to overcome even being offered all of the kingdoms of the world which is no surprise were the devil’s to give away.
“12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” Luke 4:12-13
The Bible says that the devil departed from Jesus for a season which means not permanently. If you have a victory over the devil he may leave for a bit but he is coming back with new tactics and ideas.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
God will not let the devil tempt you more than you can handle. The devil can not make you sin, you have to make the decision. And God does not cause anyone to sin either. The devil will give you all the ideas and things to sin with but the choice is yours. It is a spiritual war that can and will take a heavy toll on you mentally and spiritually and it violently starts the day you become a Christian. The devil only wants to take you to Hell.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
