The Sugar Rush

Sermons
“Jesus loves you unconditionally; Once saved, always saved; Only God can judge me” said by a sugar coated preacher. Going to church always gives you peace and convicts your heart only if the preacher is preaching the true Word of God. Many Pastors only care about the numbers of bodies in their church instead of the salvation of those bodies. They want to have a big church with big crowds who have big wallets. In order to maintain this large crowd they have to watch what
they preach. The sermon is usually based on what people want to hear.

In 2Timothy 4:2-4 it says “ Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned into fables”.

The carnal minded people usually do not want to be told they are in sin. They do not like to be rebuked. They want to be told that what they are doing is okay. A good convicting sermon tends to make people run the other way, which is why many Pastors have to sugar coat their messages in order to keep their church members. It is time to stop going to a service you want to hear and go to one that convicts your heart and changes your lifestyle. Being convicted is okay and happens to everyone, even true believers. The point of going to church is to learn and understand the Word, also to be convicted to live by His Word.

So, next time you go to church, pay attention to what is being preached. If you walk out of church feeling the same way you did when you walked in then most likely you have been given a sugar coated message and you should find another church to attend.
