Springtime Is God’s Promise
There are small signs of spring around us just starting which means winter is just about over and better weather is coming. The Bible says that God created the seasons and as long as He allows earth to exist they will continue:
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22
Spring reminds us that God makes everything new. There will be budding trees, tulips showing up, and birds that leave in the winter returning again. The Robin is usually said to be a first sign of spring and they have been here for a couple weeks now. It is always nice to see them return and hear the multitude of different birds singing again.
“11 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; 12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;” Song of Solomon 2:11-12
Jesus teaches us in the Bible that the signs of Spring show that we have summer to look forward to:
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:” Matthew 24:32
We should be excited for Spring and Summer but we should not spend all winter being miserable about the weather even though it is not always pleasant, what if we do not live to see Spring? Every minute is a gift from God and we should live in every minute as a gift and be ready to meet God at any minute.
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14
This Spring take time and enjoy seeing the new life that starts to appear each day. Before you know it the trees will be full of leaves and the grass will need to be cut weekly or even more. It is nice to see the small beginnings of a new season and enjoying the chance to appreciate the goodness of God through His nature and creation. God’s Word guarantees there will be seasons all the way in the beginning in Genesis 8, so every time we see the signs of a new season we are seeing God’s Words and Promises fulfilled.
