Serving God In A Godless World

Sermons

It can be frustrating being a Christian in today’s wicked world. Everything seems backwards, it is worse now than ever. In some countries people are being murdered for being a Christian. The world hates Christianity very bad and is pushing for complete elimination of Christian beliefs, even criminalizing them in many cases. It can be very hard to be a Christian and stand up for what is right while we are being forced to accept abominations and sin by a demon posessed society. Jesus said this will happen and we should be encouraged:

“18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” John 15:18-20

The world hates Jesus because He is God. It does not have a problem with other religions because they are not a threat to the devil, who is the god of this world. School systems are banning Jesus’ Name but not the names of other religious figures. The Name of Jesus is often used as a curse word by the world, they will yell “Oh Jesus Christ!” when something goes wrong or in many cases yelling “Jesus (f-wording) Christ!” You never hear someone drop their phone and yell “Muhammed!” or someone get extremely angry and yell “Gautama f-ing Buddha!” or “Dalai Llama dammit!”. In fact, there probably would be outrage. It is hard for a Christian to hear people at work, school or anywhere use Jesus’ Name in vain day in and day out  without any conviction. One day they will bow at the Name that they use as a curse word, whether they like it or not:

“10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” Phillipians 2:10

In a Godless world we will constantly experience things that are outside of our control. The devil wants to use the liberty he has for a short while to torment us. It may be having to attend “diversity and inclusiveness training for work” where they will force learning about accepting abominable lifestyles on us or just having to be around co-workers or customers that are not saved and grieve us with their constant Godless talk and behavior. It is easy to let it stir us up and hurt our peace, but sometimes it is wise to be still and God gives us great advice and will help us through it all, it is only for a short while:

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

There are also times when we need to speak up against the wickedness of this Godless world, we can not be door-mats for the world to walk all over and we have to stand against the works of the devil, Jesus gives us authority to in The Bible:

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

The world thinks that it already has the victory over Christians and our Lord Jesus by the wicked political puppets of Satan that they have voted into office who are hellbent on legalizing sin and outlawing Christianity. The world has gotten extremely over-confident and celebratory like in the days of Sodom. Jesus tells us that there will be problems for us to face in this world but gives us great hope for the future:

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Our Lord Jesus tells us to hang in there and endure. Sin will be everywhere but we must keep standing for our Christian values firmly by not compromising with the Godless world and keep preaching until the end which is soon coming:

“12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:12-14
