Emmanuel: God With Us
This time of year people all over will be singing songs about Christmas. While most songs or “carols” will be about the big fat lie of the devil Santa Claus, some songs will be about Jesus Christ who has a 1 in 365 chance of having a birthday on December 25th. The world will sing songs like “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “O Come Emmanuel” without even realizing what the significance of Emmanuel is.
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23
Emmanuel means “God with us”. What many people do not realize is that Jesus Christ is God. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. When else would God have appeared in the flesh?
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16
Jesus was fully man and fully God. In Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. There is no separation, the Godhead is fully God and there is no other. An explanation that Jesus is 1/3 God, the Father is 1/3 God and the Holy Ghost is 1/3 God is a lie. The Bible teaches that Jesus is fully God.
“8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Colossians 2:8-9
Jesus did not begin to exist when He was born on the earth. He created everything, everything was created through Him, He is the Word made flesh. Some false teachings say He is not God like Mormonism or Jehovah Witnesses but the Bible says He is God and was there in the beginning.
“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:1-4
The prophets of the Old Testament foretold Jesus, and they foretold He would be God with us.
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Jesus even tells us He is God. He tells us if we have seen Him we have seen the Father. This is why Jesus was able to raise the dead, heal the sick, calm the sea, walk on water, transfigure, multiply fish and loaves and rise from the dead after being crucified, He is God Almighty.
“9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” John 14:9-11
The significance of God humbling Himself and coming to this earth is astonishing. We know Jesus was most likely not born on December 25, but it is the day that the world sets aside for His birthday although it is not a commandment. Just thinking of taking the celebration of God entering into this earth in the flesh to save our souls from a burning Hell and sharing it with a demonic imposter lie like Santa Claus is horrifying. There is nothing wrong with Christians who are so appalled by this that they do not celebrate Christmas at all but rejoice in God their savior everyday. The world has no idea the meaning behind some of the songs and words they will just blindly repeat like Emmanuel. It is time for the world to get more serious about God. Jesus says:
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8
